The first afternoon meeting of the Eastbourne & South Downs Philatelic Society took
place at the Tesco Extra supermarket, Lottbridge Drove on the 16 th January this year.
This was an addition to the usual evening meetings. Not knowing what the reaction
was going to be it was decided to have a bourse – bring and buy sale.
11 members showed up and the afternoon between 2 – 4 went very well. As a
result, the club booked the 3 rd Thursday every month for the rest of 2025 between
2pm – 4pm. The February afternoon meeting we had 14 members and while they
were active in their buying and selling, a number of their partners took the
opportunity to browse throughout the store, shopping. Last Thursday 16 members
came for all or some of the afternoon session, some of which have been unable to
attend the evening meetings for one reason or another and were delighted to be able
to take an active part in the club once more.
The next meeting will be on the 17 th April. The meeting is open to all. Just remember
that when you come into the store to fill in your details into the signing in book which
is on the entrance corner of the customer’s service desk. Remember too to sign out
when leaving. For those who may bring a lot of items or heavy items, don’t forget to
use a Tesco trolly to wheel your material in and out. Plenty of free refreshments are
available and there is no charge for attending.
